Rove Trade Centre Hotel - Service Review

Sleep is an important aspect of one’s life. As a teenager embarking upon adulthood, and blatantly unaware about the realities of life, I could function without any issues with approximately 4 to 5 Hours of sleep. I considered this brag worthy, and used to be quite proud about it. So much so that I even had a standard dialogue for it. “Oh, I went to bed at 3:30 AM and woke up at 7:00 AM and I feel perfectly fine, I don’t need a lot of sleep”. How naïve was I!

As a true adult anything less than 7 to 8 Hours of quality sleep is considered a disaster. I do not even have a dialogue for it, because my mind is on sleep mode, and refuses to work, and regularly throws unnecessary tantrums.

Insufficient sleep plays havoc on one’s mind and body; I didn’t say this ‘Science’ did. And I take things that ‘Science’ says very seriously. Hence in order to avoid any long-term repercussions on my mind and body due to lack of sleep, I regularly indulge in sleep therapy. This is just me checking myself into a hotel with room service and no home distractions, and mundane tasks such as cooking, cleaning etc.

Thanks to booking.com, my go to website for when I need some quality sleep. I stumbled across Rove Trade Centre Hotel. The past reviews seemed good and the pictures looked oh so Instagram worthy that I booked myself in for a two night stay. I can hear my mother reading this and saying with utter disdain, “Why can’t she just buy gold with that money and sleep at home”.

Rove Trade Centre Hotel is very conveniently located. Past the Trade Centre roundabout and heading into 2nd December Street, and hence the name. The signage for the hotel is quite massive in size so you cannot miss it.

Another interesting factor which prompted me to book this hotel is their check-in and check-out time. Check-In begins at 4 PM and Check-Out is at 2 PM. Never should one have to wake up early to check-out at 12 Noon, I believe Rove knew this to be true.

Walking into the hotel is quite captivating. Every nook and corner is filled with color, art, and artifacts that scream for your attention. They have an array of objects on display which has been accurately placed within the reception and the open hall, and leading all the way to the room. The elevators, the corridors, and even the room have fun elements associated with them.

The room is of a sufficient size, with a mini fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, hot shower, hair dryer, a window spanning the size of the room allowing for a view of the exterior world, and a sofa bed.

Key requirement for me is a lush bed, which they had. A Television with good channels in languages I understand, which they had. Since they passed my initial assessment, all that was left to do was sleep. A part of my mind did want to go exploring and see what more this hotel had to offer. While another part of my mind wanted to be lazy and roll around in bed while watching TV and dozing off to sleep. The sensible voice within my mind won and I was tucked in bed ready for a much needed beauty sleep. And that is all I did, I slept, I enjoyed the view, I watched TV, I had a few hot showers, I scrolled on my phone, and I slept some more.

Noodle Bowl, one of my favorite restaurants was just around the corner, so I called to check if they would deliver dim sum to me at the hotel, and they gladly obliged. So I didn’t feel the need nor find a reason to step outside my room. Confirming the statement above my bed, ‘This must be the place’.

But, if you are the active enthusiastic energetic kind, then the Rove Trade Centre has a lot to offer to you too.

  • For the photographer in you they have cool and colorful backgrounds and sofas in the lobby for you and your mates to pose up, and click varieties of perfect pictures and selfies;

  • Access points for internet connectivity via desktop computers for you to browse the web;

  • A locker room with lockers assigned as country names, for you to stuff your luggage, in case you check-out of the hotel, but haven’t checked-out of Dubai yet;

  • A restaurant called ‘The Daily’ to satisfy your taste buds;

  • A laundry-area, for you long-stay tourists, to wash your drenched in tourist sweat clothes;

  • A recreation area, filled with indoor games for you to enjoy;

  • A Gym, if you prefer to work-out during your holiday;

  • An outdoor terrace pool, with floating devices, the kind you see on all your friends pool related travel photos;

  • A convenience store inside the hotel for you to spend a nominal amount of Dirhams;

  • Meeting Rooms and Conference Areas for you to negotiate a few business deals while visiting Dubai;

  • Charging Stations for your electric car, in case you had one;

  • And, truly amazing staff to cater to your needs. Special Reference to the Moussa Madagh from Algeria, who checked me in and very patiently explained to me about the concept of the hotel. Its objective, the awards it won, and about its creative head. The Kind-hearted Bohdan Miroshnichenko from Ukraine, who saw me unsuccessfully push the trolley up to my room and offered to help me.The Hotel Manager Magdalina Chung, for indulging in my many questions about the hotel. Thank You!

When, I checked out of Rove Trade Centre, I had achieved what I had wanted to achieve, two nights and days of blissful uninterrupted sleep. And considering that I have found a comfortable spot among the pillows and duvet of Rove Trade Centre, I am certain to return whenever I am in some desperate need for sleep.
