Help India Heal From Covid

India is in dire need of help and support to overcome the massive wave of Covid infections that has hit the country.

The health care system, the frontline warriors, essential service providers are all doing the best they can with the limited resources that are available to them due to the surge in the number of people requiring immediate attention.

A lot of us are doing our bit too, by self-isolation, following protocols, staying at home, and hoping that one’s actions don’t contribute to the already growing infection rates in the country.

A few of us also feel like we could do more with the time that we have on hand. But don’t necessarily know how to help. Me being one such individual. So today I got onto the internet with the intention to help by contributing money to the different organizations who have been actively fulfilling their humanitarian duties by either providing oxygen, food, or essential supplies to the most vulnerable.

I realized with growing frustration that with a non-Indian bank account and without a PAN Card number most organizations may not be able to readily receive my contributions to them. What I thought would be a half-hour exercise ended up being a three-hour exercise.

So, to make it easier for you to contribute an amount that could save a life or feed a hungry person, I have made the following list.

Dive right in and donate for a cause or all of the following causes so you know you did your bit too.

Unicef India

According to their website, they are currently requesting donations to work on the following:

  • Oxygen Concentrators, Medical Kits, and Equipment.

  • Supporting the procurement and installation of 25 oxygen plants for hospitals.

  • Special Refrigerators to preserve the Covid vaccines.

  • Providing PPE Kits.

  • Mobile Learning Centers.

  • Promoting Covid Appropriate Behaviors and providing accurate information related to Covid Vaccine.

The donation process is extremely simple, it only requires your basic information followed by your card details. International Bank Cards are accepted for payment. A one-time contribution can be of any amount that you are comfortable with donating.

Feeding India By Zomato

According to their website, they are currently requesting donations to work on procuring and providing oxygen and oxygen concentrators to hospitals and patients that are struggling to cope with the oxygen need.

The donation process is as straightforward as it can get, enter your basic information followed by your card details. Providing PAN Number is optional. International Bank Cards are accepted for payment. And you are free to choose the amount you wish to contribute.

PINT – Plasma In Need For Transfusion

According to their website, they are a platform to find and match convalescent plasma between donors and patients.

Other than oxygen, plasma is one of the needs of the hour among Covid patients. The process of finding a match is a struggle within the country and the awareness regarding donation of plasma is only gaining momentum.

Their funding platform is available via Ketto. An easy process that requires you to provide the amount you wish to contribute, your basic details, and the card details. International Bank Cards are accepted for payment.

Hemkunt Foundation

An organization that I have been actively following with my heart the last few weeks is Hemkunt Foundation.

The volume of work they achieved within a limited span of time and with just the bare minimum available resources is worth applauding.

The dedication of their team and the efforts that they have undertaken upon themselves is heart-warming, to say the least.

They are currently providing oxygen to various patients in make-shift spaces with the sole intent to save lives over any odds.

Donations are possible via UPI, GooglePay, or PayTM.

Online Contributions may also be made via Credit or Debit Card. And Bank Transfer is also an option available on their website.

Despite many attempts, my transaction to them failed via the Credit Card / Debit Card option. And since I don’t have UPI, GooglePay or PayTM my next option is to try the Bank Transfer. Let's hope that pushes through.

However, this should not deter you from trying, if you have a working Indian Debit or Credit Card or already have active accounts with UPI, GooglePay, or PayTM then I kindly request you to make a donation to this organization.

If you were to follow their Instagram Handle you will recognize that they are doing every bit in this pandemic to save lives exposing their own lives in danger and all we have to do while sitting at home is undertake a transaction online.

Please share the links with your family and friends who would also be able to contribute to these organizations.

Let us all collectively hope and pray that the country that we so dearly love and cherish, our treasured home India, overcomes this tragedy of loss and pain as soon as possible.
